he CSIS was developed through the use of a revenue sharing program set up by ISPI to partner with members to provide new professional services. The intent of the program is to offer new revenue producing services while minimizing economic risk to the Society. The CSIS also uses an assessment approach that requires candidates to produce evidence of three years of sustained improvements using a minimum of three metrics one of which must be gains in student performance. The certification is designed to drive improvement in professional practice and create a level of accountability by employers and practitioners employed by state, regional, and local education systems. It goes well beyond assessing minimum competency. The credential is also producing some unintended outcomes such as influencing hiring policies and creating a new job designation with performance criteria.

    Your take away will be:

    • A copy of the logic model that you can use as a template to explain the rational behind your credential and the role of internal and external stakeholders.
    • Guidelines for developing a revenue-sharing approach that preserves the integrity of the credential while minimizing the economic risk.
    • Insights about administering an evidence-based credential.
    • A sample structure for defining competence.
    • Suggestions on selecting and working with partners.
    • A chance to enter a drawing for the new Performance-Based Certification, 2nd edition
