This is part one of the Going Global presentations. In part one, the presenters will discuss their diverse aspects with translating examinations and will talk over their various perspectives of the necessities credentialing bodies should consider when deciding to offer examinations around the world in different languages.
Pam Weber, MPA, CAE, the International Director of Certification at International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners® will discuss the operations side of offering translated exams. Learn about their method of translating exams and the accompanying infrastructure from a credentialing body’s perspective. Whether you’re growing a U.S. based certification or already translate into other languages, this presentation will provide an overview of the practices of the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners (IBLCE ). IBLCE has over 28,000 certificants in 102 countries and translates the examination into 16 languages.
Dr. Manny Straehle, GISF is the of Founder and President of Assessment, Education, and Research Experts. Manny is a consulting assessment, educational and research expert with a number of work experiences with licensure and certification organizations, and over 10 years of experience in the credentialing industry. Manny is currently employed as the Senior Psychometrician at Global Information Assurance Certification (GIAC) where he oversees almost 30 information security certifications, where he has maintained ANSI /ISO/IEC 17024 accreditation for 11 of these certifications. In addition, he leads the technical development of GIAC’s information security aptitude examination, which is aimed to be an employment selection tool. In these positions, Manny has led psychometric and testing activities, marketing and survey research, aptitude and employment selection testing, and other research and evaluation projects. Manny will bring the psychometric perspective on what credentialing bodies should know when translating and adapting examination assessments for a global market.
Bobby Corrigan has a master’s degree in Applied Industrial and Organizational Psychology and is currently a Test Developer at Prometric. He has developed exams for both the government and private sector, including the Internal Revenue Service, the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying, the Green Business Certification Institute, World Bank, and many others. He has managed several different exam translations including, Spanish, Chinese, and Arabic and partners closely with our exam translation vendors to ensure an effective and efficient process for every client’s translations.
